About The Position

The RN/LPN School Nurse position in Osceola County, Florida, is responsible for providing healthcare management, physical assessments, and treatment for minor injuries to students enrolled in K-12 schools. The role involves addressing medical emergencies, maintaining health records, and facilitating communication between students, parents, and healthcare professionals. The nurse will work full-time, Monday through Friday, across various cities in Florida, ensuring the health needs of the school population are met and promoting continuous quality improvement in healthcare delivery.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in Nursing.
  • Bachelor degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Nursing license.
  • Hold BLS, First Aid, and CPR certification.
  • Experience working with children in a hospital and/or school and community-health nursing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Knowledge of OSHA compliance standards and HIPAA laws of confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care utilizing professional assessment skills and individualized healthcare plans.
  • Chart and maintain accurate records of activities performed, including medications dispensed and incident reports.
  • Initiate and maintain accurate student health records, immunization records, and medication administration records.
  • Establish effective procedures for mandatory screening programs and submit required reports.
  • Communicate with parents regarding individual students and serve as a liaison between school personnel, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Support behavior management programs and participate in conflict resolution meetings.
  • Contribute to campus communications regarding health issues and attend ARD meetings for students with health needs.
  • Develop and implement Individual Health Plans for medically fragile students and evaluate outcomes of nursing care.
  • Collaborate with district personnel regarding health-related IEP goals and services.
  • Educate faculty and staff on health-related topics and ensure safe conditions in the school clinic.
  • Provide consultation in crisis/emergency situations and prepare medications for administration.
