About The Position

The Lactation Consultant works directly with breastfeeding mothers supporting the mother/baby breastfeeding dyad. Develops plan of care and reinforces plan with patient and nursing staff. Works to solve breastfeeding problems and bring them to a resolution. Promotes breastfeeding in the community and supports breastfeeding initiatives. Provides ongoing education for patients and nursing staff. Applies nursing process and theories, as well as principles of psycho-social and physical sciences. Practices autonomously within professional nursing standards, the ANA Code of Ethics and the ANA Bill of Rights. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• 1-2 years of experience as Lactation Consultant required.
• Certified by the International Board of Lactation Examiners / CLC Child Birth Educator.
• BLS through American Heart Association for healthcare providers.
• NRP through American Heart Association.

Nice To Haves

• BSN or completed within 3 years of start date preferred.
• Certification in Child Birth Education strongly preferred.
