About The Position

Join the dedicated Labor & Delivery team at Piedmont Athens, where compassionate care and clinical excellence go hand in hand. Our unit is made up of 2 ORs, 2 Pre Op/PACU rooms, 14 labor rooms and 4 OB/ED beds that support 3000 deliveries annually. We provide comprehensive care for a wide range of patients and obstetric needsfrom triage and labor to surgical delivery, recovery, postpartum, newborn nursery, and gynecologic care. Our team thrives on strong prioritization, professionalism, and collaboration to provide safe, patient-centered care. Staffing ratios are thoughtfully guided by patient acuity and volume: 1:2 in laboring patients and 1:1 in active labor and OR/recovery. These ratios reflect our commitment to maintaining the highest standards while adjusting to clinical realities as needed. Requirements

  • MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate of a nursing program
  • MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: New Graduates of a nursing program eligible
  • MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. BLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • For PRN positions: One year of nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred
  • Bachelor?s degree preferred
  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
  • Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred

Responsibilities

  • The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients.
  • He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability.
  • The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
