With over 3,000 deliveries each year, our team is at the forefront of maternal and neonatal care, handling everything from routine births to medically complex cases. Together, we deliver patient-centered care that combines the latest evidence-based practices with personalized attention to meet each family’s unique needs. 13 Private Rooms, 3 ORs, 3 Bay Recovery Room,3Bay OB ED Post-6 PRIVATE ROOMS On-call staff members are expected to report to work within one hour or the amount of time it takes to drive in from home plus 15 minutes (not to exceed 90 minutes) upon notification of need

- Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year - American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 1 year - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP); Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA)
- Education: H.S. Diploma/GED; Associate's Degree
- Work Experience: RN>1yr
Responsibilities
- Performs all responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to the scope of service.
- Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
- Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
- Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and that is based on patient and family needs.
- Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
- Modifies plan of care based upon continuous evaluation.
- Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
- Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues.
- Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers, and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base.
- Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solution.
- Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies.
- Provides care to the inpatient obstetric patient
- Monitors fetal well being
- Administers medication specific to the obstetric patient
- Provides patient education specific to the obstetric population
- Participates in the intrapartum care of the patient and newborn in labor, delivery and surgical delivery
