For more information on UofL Health, go to www.uoflhealth.org. Job Description: The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering nursing care to the Patient in the C.V. Laboratory. The R.N. administers medications, observes for complication and intervenes when emergencies occur. The R.N. will scrub to assist the Physician during all procedures (except PTCA) and will run the Code 300. This document defines major job responsibilities and performance expectations and serves as a tool for evaluation performance. However, it is not intended to be all inclusive as other duties may be assigned as necessary. Demonstrates accurate utilization of the new CERNER platform (E.H.R.) as evidenced by less than 3 omissions of mandatory charting requirements within a 12 month period. Regularly check email for corporate and department communications. Displays knowledge and complies with the National Patient Safety Goals. Implements an age-appropriate plan of care in conjunction with the health care team per Scope of Service. Attends all UofL Health required educational programs as well as all Learn (KNOW) Modules

Requirements

  • Licensed or eligible for license in Kentucky
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required for some units
  • Associates’s degree from accredited college or University
  • Language Ability: Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to break down problems or tasks; scanning one’s own knowledge and experience to identify causes and consequences of events
  • Computer Skills

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or University

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of drug therapy and documents according to best practice.
  • Supervises nursing care of the patient in the cardiovascular laboratory.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Cardiac Catheterization procedures and equipment.
  • Contributes to the productivity and cost effectiveness of the department operation.
  • Assists in delivering high quality health care services in a professional, compassionate, and courteous manner while respecting the dignity and individuality of each person who comes in contact with the organization by following the Standards of Performance.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Sheath removal and maintains hemostasis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
