Requirements
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- License: Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Nurse
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Basic Coronary Care
- Experience: 1-year acute care experience required.
- Moderate Sedation Competency, Analytical skills to assess, prepare, impliment and evaluate the outcomes of the plan of care of patients / families.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the people in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
- Computer literacy
Responsibilities
- The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families.
- The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patients episode.
- The Registered Nurse in Intensive Care develops specialized skill to care for critically ill unstable patients.
- The RN develops a strong working knowledge of life support machines, cardiac monitoring systems and other life preserving medical equipment and nursing interventions essential for a critical care nurse.
- The RN is accountable for patient family education to assist the patient and family in understanding self care beyond hospitalization including lifestyle changes to support health and healing.
- The Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort, and provide emotional support in a healing environment.
