Requirements

  • Minimum Education: ADN, Diploma or Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
  • Current RN license to practice in the State of South Carolina.
  • New graduate RN’s who acquire their generic RN education through an on-line program will not meet LMC minimum qualifications.
  • Critical Care, Medical/Surgical, Intermediate, and Emergency Department units will not consider newly graduated Nurses without post-graduation experience, except for those that have successfully completed LMC's Nurse Residency Program.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process to promote and restore patient’s health status.
  • Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Provides physical and psychological support to patients, family members and significant others.
  • Supervises assigned team members.
  • Establishes positive rapport with patient and family.
  • Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals and providing education.
  • Serves as patient/family advocate.
  • Maintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions.
  • Uses a systematic critical-thinking approach to guide data gathering and assessment.
  • Identifies, synthesizes and interprets sources of data using reasonable clinical judgement.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards.
  • Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
  • Participates in process/performance improvement activities.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures.
  • Documents all patient care activities accurately and timely.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Demonstrates effective teamwork skills and maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.
