About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Critical Care Unit (CCU) will assume responsibility and accountability for the adult and geriatric patients undergoing continuous monitoring for cardiac, post-surgical, respiratory, and/or psychiatric diagnoses. The CCU RN will often be active participants in bedside procedures with physicians. He/She will be responsible for certain specialty equipment and procedures such as managing arterial lines, ventilators, hypothermia protocol, and performing peritoneal dialysis. As a CCU RN, he/she will be part of the Rapid Response Team and will assist hospital staff in assessing, treating and transferring (if needed) deteriorating patients to the appropriate unit. He/She will provide appropriate care and comfort needs for the well-being of the patients by assessing, administering medications as ordered and educating patients and family members about active treatment plans and goals. The CCU RN will utilize the nursing process in the provision of care and will practice within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and the policies, procedures, and standards of the Health System. The CCU RN will demonstrate a commitment to teamwork through effective collaboration efforts.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with current, active license to practice in Arkansas.
  • BSN preferred.
  • If less than one year experience as a Registered Nurse, must obtain a BSN degree within 4 years of hire.
  • Certification preferred.
  • Proof of high school or equivalent or higher education.
  • Basic keyboarding skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Be part of the Rapid Response Team.

  • Provide care and comfort needs for patients.
  • Administer medications as ordered.
  • Educate patients and family members about treatment plans and goals.
  • Utilize the nursing process in the provision of care.
  • Practice within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act of Arkansas.
