About The Position

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse provides advanced critical care to patients experiencing life-threatening conditions such as cardiac arrest, stroke, trauma, respiratory failure, or multi-organ dysfunction. This role requires strong clinical judgment, technical expertise, and the ability to perform in high-stress, fast-paced environments. The RN will collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Wyoming or Compact State).
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU experience in an acute care hospital required.
  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS required (AHA).
  • Strong experience managing ventilators, titrating IV drips, and responding to code situations.
  • Ability to float between ICU and related acute care units as needed based on patient census.
  • EMR experience required (facility uses Centricity).
  • Must be able to work independently with sound clinical judgment and remain calm under pressure.

  • PALS/ENPC and TNCC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, monitor, and evaluate patients with complex and unstable medical conditions.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized patient care plans based on ongoing assessments.
  • Administer IV fluids, medications, and advanced life support in compliance with established protocols.
  • Operate and troubleshoot life-support equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP).
  • Perform wound care, suctioning, and other critical interventions as needed.
  • Assist physicians with bedside procedures and emergency interventions.
  • Document patient status, treatment responses, and vital signs accurately in the EMR system.
  • Collaborate with fellow nurses, respiratory therapists, and medical staff to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families regarding treatment plans and recovery expectations.
  • Act as a patient advocate while ensuring adherence to safety and infection control standards.
  • May provide care for pre- and post-operative patients and occasionally assist with pediatric/adolescent cases.
