Job Summary and Responsibilities The General Surgery unit, otherwise known as CP 15, is a 20 bed unit with an average daily census of 19. For the most part our patient population is composed of patients following gastrointestinal surgeries (ie whipples, liver resections, colorectal, bariatric, etc.). We are proud to be an accredited Center of Excellence for bariatric surgeries. We work closely with our surgical teams to ensure excellent care of all our patients. We do have some medical patients on occasion as well. We are a busy unit with opportunities to learn and practice a variety of skills such as; ostomies, all types of GI drains, tube feedings, pain management pumps, insulin drips, and more. We are an excellent place to receive a solid medical surgical foundation. Responsibilities: - The registered nurse provides high quality, skilled nursing services -Assists the patients to achieve optimum health and functional health status following an illness requiring hospitalization. - Collaborating with physicians and other health care professionals, the Registered Nurse prepares the patient and family for discharge to home or another setting for continued care.
