About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients. This role works with a collaborative interdisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, behavioral health therapists, dieticians, occupational therapist, recreational therapist, exercise physiologist, nursing, and nursing assistants. The unit specializes in the care for patients with anorexia nervosa including severe and enduring cases, atypical eating disorders, bulimia nervosa, avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), over exercise, diet pills/laxative/diuretic abuse, as well as other medical and psychiatric co-morbidities. Patients are treated with group therapy, individual therapy, assessments, and family therapy. This unit also includes a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which can have up to 10 patients. PHP is Monday through Friday from 7:15am-6:30pm, and IOP is 4 half days/week. Experience in eating disorders is helpful, but not a requirement for the role.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program required.
  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.
  • Experience in eating disorders is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care.
  • Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge.
  • Cares for patients in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
  • Responsible for the planning and coordination of care, patient assessment, patient education, triage, and various other nursing interventions.
  • Functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules.
