About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Infusion, performing primary nursing functions including assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The nurse supports patients and families, collaborating with interprofessional teams to resolve issues and establish treatment plans. Key responsibilities involve individualizing and updating care plans, providing patient education on vascular access, and performing intravenous insertion and assessment for peripheral and central lines. The position requires the use of equipment such as point of care ultrasound and intravenous infusion pumps, interpreting department-specific policies and laboratory results for safe patient management, and accurately implementing, monitoring, and recording patient care. The RN must communicate patient conditions, respond to unanticipated changes, and utilize the Electronic Health Record (EHR). The role emphasizes applying evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge to ensure nursing care aligns with age-specific and clinical needs, while maintaining a constant state of alertness and safety.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing

Responsibilities

  • Supports the care of the patient and assesses and addresses the needs of the patient/family.
  • Works collaboratively with other interprofessional team members in resolving patient/family problems, concerns and issues.
  • Collaborates with other departments as needed to establish the patient/family treatment plan.
  • Individualizes, implements, evaluates or updates the plan of care and patient educational needs regarding vascular access.
  • Possesses the ability to complete intravenous insertion and assessment to include peripheral and central line access.
  • Utilizes equipment such as point of care ultrasound equipment and intravenous infusion pumps as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates proper interpretation of department specific policies and related laboratory results to safely manage specific patient needs.
  • Implements, monitors and records patient care and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Takes appropriate actions to unanticipated changes in patient condition.
  • Utilizes the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to access treatment and therapy plans.
  • Applies the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on patient’s age-specific needs and clinical needs as described in the department's scope of service.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
