About The Position

General Summary of Position Independently assesses plans implements and evaluates the nursing care of patients who are ordered infusion treatments. In collaboration with the patient and family provides theory-based professional nursing care and coordinates care delivery with the physician and other members of the healthcare team. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.Based on assessment of physical emotional bio-physical and spiritual needs provides direct patient care and evaluates outcomes. Analyzes the patients' lab work medications and activities and confers with physicians on any changes.Communicates patient's clinical information clearly and accurately in verbal and written format. Clearly and accurately documents pertinent information in the patient's medical record. Consistently demonstrates effective documentation practices and develops strategies to ensure complete documentation of patient care.Evaluates the patient's response to treatment and progress toward identified goals and revises plan of care as appropriate. Monitors medical condition intervenes using critical thinking and reports patient changes to appropriate personnel.Evaluates the patients' capability to perform their infusion treatments at home and take all prescribed medications. Serves as resource in planning care for complex patients.Initiates and monitors discharge planning activities in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. Takes the lead in facilitating timely discharge.Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment of caring for patients and families. Provides basic patient comfort measures during procedures. Identifies and acts upon opportunities to improve the environment of care.Operates Infusion unit equipment instruments and supplies as well as standard office equipment including computers for records and reports.Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate. Minimal Qualifications

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required
  • 1-2 years 2 years RN experience. required
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in Maryland Virginia and the District of Columbia as required based on work location(s) Upon Hire required
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required
  • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
  • Demonstrated high level of clinical competence.
  • Effective interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Certification in Infusion Nursing Upon Hire preferred
