About The Position

The RN Infusion Nurse is responsible for providing both direct and indirect patient care in the Infusion Services department at SBL Infusion Services. This role includes administering intravenous medications and fluid therapies, managing patient records, educating patients and families, and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of treatment. The Infusion Nurse also collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care, assists with prior authorizations, message center and processes referrals. The ideal candidate will have experience in infusion therapy, a strong knowledge of medical procedures, and a commitment to high-quality patient care. This position will float between Mattoon Infusion and Effingham infusion depending on patient volumes and staffing needs. Primary location will be Mattoon Infusion Center.

Requirements

  • ADN (Required)
  • BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Accepts reassignment, at the direction and discretion of management, as applicable to staffing levels and patient volumes, including to all areas by SBL Infusion Services where training has occurred and competency has been established.
  • Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient's health or the situation.
  • Cleans and stocks exam rooms and work spaces on an ongoing basis to assure that there is an adequate supply.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other members of the health care team to address issues related to patients through the process of mutual information sharing, discussion, and decision making.
  • Consistently processes patient charges for procedures and supplies correctly.
  • Plans and evaluates care in collaboration with appropriate disciplines for assigned patients.
  • Analyzes assessment data to determine actual or potential diagnosis, problems, and issues.
  • Educates patients and families appropriately for their procedures and treatment.
  • Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
  • Handles patient phone calls for patient education and/or reassurance needs.
  • Implements care and supervises care delivered by other team members in alignment with the plan of care and approved safety and infection control standards.
  • Actively pursues required knowledge and skills through orientation activities specific to the unit, unit based in-service programs, reading current literature and seeking new clinical learning opportunities.
  • Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation.
  • Participates in the ongoing variance monitoring of clinical pathways.
  • Performs general clerical duties, as required, such as receiving and mailing patient test results, validating charges, transcribing data to physical referral forms, ordering supplies, and making calls to patients or other health care team departments.
  • Develops a plan that prescribes strategies to attain expected, measurable outcomes.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with peers, physicians, and other members of the health care team.
  • Takes call after hours as assigned and accepts call coverage at all areas for SBL Infusion Services as directed by management.
  • Employs teaching strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
