About The Position

This is a per diem position working in our Ambulatory Infusion Clinic, requiring a minimum of four shifts per month. The role involves providing nursing care to a defined group of patients, adhering to Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington ambulatory Nursing Care Standards, the Nursing Code of Ethics, and Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington policies. The Registered Nurse will coordinate and facilitate health care services for patients, working collaboratively with the health care team to oversee patient assessment and the formulation and implementation of care plans. The Infusions RN will work in an outpatient clinic setting, providing IV infusions, placing IVs, and teaching patients and their families how to manage home infusion medications such as antibiotics. Strong IV placement skills are needed, along with experience in placing PICC lines or Midlines.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Registered Nurse License (Washington) required at hire OR Compact License: Registered Nurse required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification required at hire.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Ambulatory care nursing experience.
  • Primary nursing or case-management experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • IV Therapy and PICC line placement nursing experience.
  • IV Therapy certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing assessment of the nursing care needs of a defined group of patients using the nursing process.
  • Develop a written plan of care for patient care needs.
  • Assist patients and families in developing health care goals as part of the individualized plan of care.
  • Determine priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available resources.
  • Provide nursing interventions safely and competently.
  • Provide information to patients and families preceding interventions.
  • Provide telephone consultation to patients and families.
  • Evaluate patients' responses to care and modify the individual plan of care in collaboration with the health care team.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the physiologic and psychological effects of normal aging.
  • Collaborate and communicate with other health care team members in planning and implementing care.
  • Assess the needs of designated patients requiring hospitalization and initiate nursing admission database and discharge planning.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to accomplish the workload.
  • Identify patients' educational needs and develop an educational component for each nursing care plan.
  • Encourage patient compliance with therapeutic and medical regimens.
  • Integrate health promotion and preventive aspects of care with ongoing assessment of nursing care needs.
  • Provide a safe environment for each patient and adhere to safety standards.
  • Participate in staff orientation and student education activities.
  • Assure quality of care through development, implementation, and evaluation of professional nursing standards.
