About The Position

The RN II - Critical Care Float Pool position at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland is designed for a professional caregiver who is committed to providing high-quality nursing care to pediatric patients in critical and intensive care settings. The staff RN will follow the framework of primary nursing, taking responsibility and accountability for the care and education of groups of patients and their families during designated time frames. This role requires the RN to direct and provide care utilizing therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, and collaboration with other team members, ensuring that the needs of patients are met effectively and compassionately. In this part-time role, the RN will work 12-hour shifts during the day, specifically from 0700 to 1930. The position is located at 747 52nd Street, Oakland, CA 94609, within the Float Pool, which encompasses both the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The RN will be expected to float between these units as needed, providing critical care to patients in various stages of treatment and recovery. The RN will also be responsible for adhering to infection control and safety policies, ensuring a safe environment for both patients and staff. The ideal candidate will possess a current California RN license and a valid CPR certification. Additionally, they should have at least one year of experience in either the PICU or NICU within the last five years, or have relevant experience in the Emergency Department (ED) or Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) with a significant amount of time spent in PICU or NICU settings. The role demands physical stamina and the ability to perform various tasks, including lifting and moving patients, as well as responding to alarms and instructions in a fast-paced environment.
