About The Position

The RN Clinic Float provides comprehensive nursing care across multiple Trinity Health clinic departments, supporting patient assessment, treatment, education, and care coordination. This role adapts to a variety of clinical settings and patient populations, ensuring care is delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with nursing standards and organizational policies. Working collaboratively with providers, clinic staff, and interdisciplinary teams, the RN Clinic Float supports daily clinic workflows, responds to changing patient needs, and helps maintain continuity of care. The position functions within a supportive, team-oriented environment where flexibility, communication, and shared responsibility are essential. Through strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and clear communication, the RN Clinic Float helps ensure smooth clinic operations and timely access to high-quality, patient-centered services.

Requirements

  • Current or temporary RN license in North Dakota or compact state licensure.
  • BLS/CPR certification required within orientation period.
  • Additional point of care or department specific certifications required within orientation.
  • Graduate of an accredited RN program as evidenced by license.
  • Strong assessment, triage, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in computer and EHR systems.
  • Ability to calculate and administer drug dosages and injections safely.
  • Skilled in time management, multitasking, and medical care coordination.

Nice To Haves

  • One year or more of professional nursing experience preferred.
  • Clinic and/or ambulatory care experience preferred.
  • Coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments, administer treatments, and support provider-directed care across assigned clinic departments while maintaining accurate and timely documentation.
  • Triage patient concerns in person and by phone, prioritizing needs based on clinical urgency and coordinating appropriate follow-up.
  • Prepare exam rooms, assist with procedures, and manage clinical supplies to ensure readiness and adherence to infection-prevention standards.
  • Provide patient education related to diagnoses, medications, self-care, and follow-up instructions to promote understanding and positive health outcomes.
  • Collaborate with providers, clinic staff, and interdisciplinary teams to support efficient patient flow and coordinated care delivery.
  • Adapt quickly to varied clinic specialties and workflows, providing support where needed and maintaining effective communication with the nursing manager regarding daily assignments.
