About The Position

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join their Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. This multi-diagnosis ICU cares for critically ill patients 18 years and older, including approximately 8-10 open heart surgical patients per week, other major surgical patients, acute respiratory failure, OD/withdrawal, medical and surgical neuro, and minimal trauma. The unit provides Telemedicine ICU services and cares for patients with IABP, Impella, hypothermia therapy, and CRRT, though patients requiring LVAD or ECMO are transferred to the University of MN. The position is .75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks) on the night shift (7pm-7:30am) with a rotation for every third weekend. The ICU is a 23-bed unit with an average daily census of 20-21 patients and 110 FTEs/150 employees. Approximately half of the RN staff has an advanced certification in Critical Care Nursing, and there is 24/7 Intensivist coverage. Fairview Health Services is an industry-leading, award-winning nonprofit offering a network of healthcare services, part of M Health Fairview, a partnership between the University of Minnesota, M Physicians, and Fairview Health Services. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient populations, performing these responsibilities in accordance with policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines, and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with the health care team and delegates responsibilities as appropriate.

Requirements

  • MN RN License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc, Red Cross or MTN)
  • RN ICU experience

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
