About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the ICU Department at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA. The SLH-ICU/SICU is a 24-bed unit that is part of a Level II Trauma center. The Critical Care Unit provides exceptional care to a diverse group of critically ill patients, including those with hemodynamically unstable conditions and diagnoses such as acute respiratory failure, acute MI with and without intervention, cardiogenic shock, heart blocks, life-threatening arrhythmias, sepsis/septic shock, renal failure, DKA, acute CVA, hypertensive crisis, acute GI bleed, multiple trauma, multi-system organ failure, and major surgical cases including vascular and neurosurgical services.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or equivalent is required.
  • Current RN Licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) months experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of the Manager, Patient Services or designee of individual assigned unit, perform a variety of duties involving coordinating total nursing care for patients.
  • Participate in patient and family teaching.
  • Provide leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice within an assigned patient care unit.
  • Possess knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, which is appropriate to the age group of patients regularly served.
