About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the ICU Department at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA. The SLH-ICU/SICU is a 24-bed unit within a Level II Trauma center, dedicated to providing exceptional care to a diverse range of critically ill patients. These patients include those with hemodynamically unstable conditions and diagnoses such as acute respiratory failure, acute myocardial infarction (with and without intervention), cardiogenic shock, heart blocks, life-threatening arrhythmias, sepsis/septic shock, renal failure, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), acute cerebrovascular accident (CVA), hypertensive crisis, acute gastrointestinal bleed, multiple trauma, multi-system organ failure, and major surgical cases including vascular and neurosurgical services.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or equivalent is required
  • Current RN Licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) months experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of the Manager, Patient Services or designee of individual assigned unit, perform a variety of duties involving coordinating total nursing care for patients
  • Participate in patient and family teaching
  • Provide leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice within an assigned patient care unit
  • Has knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, which is appropriate to the age group of patients regularly served
