This specific role is for a Registered Nurse in the ICU Department at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA. The SLH-ICU/SICU is a 24-bed unit within a Level II Trauma center, providing critical care to a diverse range of critically ill patients. This includes patients with conditions such as acute respiratory failure, acute myocardial infarction (with or without intervention), cardiogenic shock, heart blocks, life-threatening arrhythmias, sepsis/septic shock, renal failure, diabetic ketoacidosis, acute cerebrovascular accident, hypertensive crisis, acute gastrointestinal bleed, multiple trauma, multi-system organ failure, and those undergoing major surgical procedures including vascular and neurosurgical services.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or equivalent is required
  • Current RN Licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) months experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of the Manager, Patient Services or designee of individual assigned unit, perform a variety of duties involving coordinating total nursing care for patients
  • Participate in patient and family teaching
  • Provide leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice within an assigned patient care unit
  • Possess knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, which is appropriate to the age group of patients regularly served
