About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (RN-ICU) at Palo Pinto General Hospital plays a critical role in delivering specialized, high-quality care to critically ill patients. Requirements

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
  • Graduate of a certified nursing program.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, preferably Meditech.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of ICU equipment, patient monitoring systems, and critical care protocols.
  • Familiarity with quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an Intensive Care Unit or critical care setting.
  • Certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) or equivalent specialty certification.
  • Additional certifications such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
  • Demonstrated leadership or preceptorship experience within an ICU environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing life-support equipment.
  • Assess patient conditions continuously and document changes accurately to inform treatment decisions and care planning.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and implement prescribed interventions.
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies, performing advanced life support procedures as necessary.
  • Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and post-discharge care to promote understanding and compliance.
  • Implement and develop discharge planning.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and hospital policies to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with ICU best practices and technological advancements.
