Requirements

  • Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • 2 years of nursing experience in relevant clinical area.

Responsibilities

  • Delegate work and provide supervision to professionals and other personnel involved in the delivery of patient care.
  • Participate in the day-to-day operations of the department, under supervision of nursing manager/director.
  • Act as a clinical and operations resource person maintaining current knowledge of clinical practice and departmental operations.
  • Audit, report, and educate staff on nursing documentation and meeting professional and JCAHO requirements.
  • Plan daily staffing coverage according to department needs and appropriate skill mix.
  • Monitor staffing level on a daily basis, and modify staffing based on patient acuity, current technology, and available resources.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, orient, and evaluate employees as directed.
  • Maintain employee accountability with all hospital policies and procedures.
  • Inspect department and complete routine environmental rounds, safety rounds as prescribed by organizational safety plan.
  • Regularly round on all patients to assure that needs are met and resolve any issues that are identified.
  • Participate in performance improvement, monitor compliance of core measure initiatives, and review charts to evaluate compliance with quality standards.
