About The Position

This position is located at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (CNRVMC) in Christiansburg, VA. As the Registered Nurse Preceptor you would perform activities related to orientation and continuing education of the staff. The RN I Preceptor job duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Develops an individual orientation plan in collaboration with Education Consultant on an ongoing basis. Assists with Orientation Record and Orientation Competency Validation documentation. Provides timely and ongoing feedback regarding orientee progress to orientee, Education Consultant, and Manager. Assists with annual learning needs assessment on unit. Assists staff in coordination of department continuing education. Coordinates annual completion of Competency Validation of staff as appropriate.

Requirements

• Graduate of school of professional nursing of an accredited college.
• Two years' experience in clinical discipline required.
• Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.
• BSN Preferred.
• Obtain CPR, and as needed ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications.
• Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC).
• For Psychiatry and Behavioral Health De-escalation training must be successfully completed within four months of hire and then maintained going forward.
• Successfully complete orientation and competency requirements.
