About The Position

The Registered Nurse ICU plans, coordinates, and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. They ensure that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standard of care. The RN demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization, remains flexible to changing systems, and is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice. They are also expected to treat staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect. This position is represented by RCHEA.

Requirements

  • At least two years of documented ICU experience and/or attended an approved ICU training course, which includes didactic and clinical experiences.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • PALS and ACLS Certification within six months of hire.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse by the State of California.
  • ACLS required.
  • Current BLS certification required.

  • Collaborate by working with others to achieve unit and organizational goals.
  • Demonstrate a professional, supportive attitude for the unit staff.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the critical skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served in the Intensive Care setting.
  • Able to interpret data about the patients status in order to identify each patients age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
  • Be flexible to changing systems.
  • Be receptive and responsive to new ideas.
  • Maintain and meet expectations on time for all competencies, license, certifications and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies.
  • Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcome; modify the plan of care based upon evaluation.
  • Meet clinical competency requirements specific to the Intensive Care Unit.
  • Monitor hemodynamic status of patients and to correctly interpret the findings.
  • Participate in unit and integrated service projects to improve organizational performance.
  • Perform head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments per policy. This includes pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations.
  • Willingly perform other duties and innovations as assigned.
