About The Position

Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital (LBHH) is a newly opened (July, 2018) 126-bed, inpatient psychiatric hospital and start-up joint venture between Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine and Universal Health Services. In addition to a general adult unit and dedicated adolescent unit, the new facility will also offer services for treating those with co-occurring disorders on the psychiatric-medical unit, an intensive adult unit to care for those with severe conditions, as well as a women’s trauma unit. Requirements

  • A valid State of Pennsylvania Nursing (RN) (Registered Nurse) License is required.
  • 3-5 years of management experience preferred.
  • CPR certification is required upon hire and will be provided at orientation if needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous psychiatric, behavioral or mental health nursing experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Receives call-ins, assigns float pool staff, and makes appropriate reassignments or changes in staff schedule to meet recommended staffing levels in the various nursing units.
  • Collaborates with Nurse Managers, or Charge Nurses to maintain adequate staffing for the various nursing units for the current and oncoming shifts.
  • Collaborates with the Access Intake Center staff to guarantee the most appropriate placement of the patient in the system based upon patient diagnosis, acuity, and nursing care needs
  • Communicates information appropriately and effectively intra and interdepartmentally.
  • Acts as a resource to nursing units and other departments and serves as a liaison when dealing with mutual problems, issues or concerns.
  • Provides accurate written and/or verbal reports to Nurse Managers, Risk Manager, or Quality Improvement Director based upon problems encountered and actions taken as appropriate.
