About The Position

Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. We have been serving residents of Edgar County since 1968 though community education, emergency services, and outpatient care. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care of the patients assigned to him/her during a given period of time.  The RN functions under minimal supervision and according to established policies, procedures, and professional nursing standards.  The RN performs other assignments as required.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an associate degree, baccalaureate degree, or diploma school of nursing.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Illinois.
  • Have and maintain certification in BLS, ACLS and PALS.
  • Will obtain and maintain ITLS/TNCC/TNS within 6 months of hire
  • Minimum of three years’ experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Correctly triages, assigns triage category, and recognizes life threatening situations immediately.
  • Prioritizes patient care according to severity of presenting compliant.
  • Identifies and communicates unusual or abnormal assessments of patient care problems to the Coordinator/Manager.
  • Safely and accurately administers all medications within the acceptable limits of professional judgment according to policy. (Consider the severity of any medication administration incident reports.)
  • Demonstrates appropriate skills for patients requiring resuscitation for cardiac and/or respiratory arrest.
  • Quickly and efficiently sets up for monitoring, pacing and defibrillation, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrates appropriate medication management skills to care for patients requiring cardiac pacing, cardioversion, or artificial ventilatory assistance.
  • Properly and accurately sets up for emergency procedures such as lumbar puncture, chest tubes and arterial lines.
  • Properly and accurately sets up ventilatory assistive devices, BIPAP/CPAP and Ventilator.
  • Monitor and correctly interpret rhythm strips. Recognize changes in rhythm and wave forms and reports to physician as appropriate.
  • Function as Team Leader in a Code Blue situation.
  • Maintains proficiency in use of the Electronic Health Record.
