About The Position

Performs comprehensive, professional nursing duties in the care of children and adult medical/surgical overflow. Assesses patients on admission to unit, determines level of care and initiates plan of care based on findings and physician orders. Observes clinical conditions of children and neonates o Interprets findings and immediately decides proper action o Collaborates with care team on findings Manages a variety of suction devices, as well as gavage feedings Operates special equipment, such as apnea monitors, cardiac monitors, hypothermia units, and the infant warming unit, as well as the infant transport unit. Stats and monitors IV lines o Monitors and maintains hyperalimentation and umbilical catheter lines Documents information in the EHR o Maintains accurate flow sheets Assists physicians in the delivery room for care of neonates. Administers prescribed medication to all children and neonates by whatever route ordered and allowed. Administers blood components as ordered Is a member of the multidisciplinary care team and provides feedback when necessary regarding discharge planning and education for patient and family. Will possess the knowledge and skill to insert feeding tubes Will have knowledge of pediatrics drugs and dosages to assure safe administration
