About The Position

The RN-Hospice Case Manager position at Ohio County Hospital involves assessing and diagnosing nursing care needs, prescribing and supervising patient care, and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for patients. Requirements

  • Current RN license in the state of Kentucky or current work permit issued by KBN.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Associate's degree in nursing; BSN preferred.
  • BLS Provider certification or equivalent knowledge.
  • ACLS provider certification or obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • PALS provider certification strongly recommended.
  • Basic keyboarding skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and diagnose nursing care needs based on patient condition.
  • Collect pertinent assessment data using appropriate techniques.
  • Prescribe, delegate, supervise, and evaluate patient care.
  • Document patients' responses to nursing interventions.
  • Provide concise reports to receiving units during patient transfers.
  • Transcribe and implement medical orders accurately.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of sterile/aseptic techniques.
  • Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and follow treatment protocols.
  • Manage pain and identify patient learning needs.
  • Provide teaching and coaching to staff and patients.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patient care.
  • Account for all drugs and follow hospital policies.
  • Report safety or infection hazards appropriately.
  • Uphold nursing practice standards and code of ethics.
  • Participate in quality improvement efforts.
  • Attend continuing education and staff meetings.
