The Horizons Mental Health Registered Nurse (RN) is an integral component of the inpatient behavioral health program. The RN collaborates with a multi/interdisciplinary team to provide specialized inpatient mental health treatment. The primary goal is to assess/observe/treat and educate patients/families that are experiencing mental illnesses such as depression, dementia with behavioral disturbances, psychosis, and other mental disorders. The Mental Health RN provides treatment to individuals in a structured safe environment. Treatment is individualized to the patient. The RN will provide ongoing medical/ psychological care, crisis intervention, and stabilization. The primary goal is to restore optimal mental health, functioning and recovery. RN supervises unit LPNs, CNAs, and PCAs during shift. The registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities, and patient populations. The RN’s care delivery is consistent with the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics. The RN demonstrates the professional role obligations of scientist, leader, practitioner, and knowledge transferor. Professional accountability enriches the RN’s engagement as a leader in promoting an inter-professional culture of collaborative decision-making, innovation, life-long learning, and teamwork. The RN exemplifies the principles of a Culture of Safety by committing to a Just Culture. A GWEN RN must remain flexible to work wherever needed.
