Provides direct nursing care and assesses the patient's condition and nursing needs of the terminally ill patient; set goals; prescribes appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals of the physical and psychological need of the patient and family. Able to function independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Shares on call to provide 24-hour availability for patients and families. The RN will serve as a role model for nursing assistants and students by demonstrating clinical competence and leadership. The RN must promote good public relations for the unit, the nursing division, and the medical center while maintaining patient confidentiality.
