About The Position

Under general supervision, GI Lab Nurses deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with established philosophy. Nurses collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Nurses effectively interact with patients, significant others, and family, while maintaining the standard of professional nursing. The nature of the direction and supervision required for this position varies by state and job setting. Due to the broad range of medical conditions nurses will encounter, they must be well-versed in a large variety of health conditions.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in the State of Texas required.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) upon hire date required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) within 90 days of hire date required.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of inpatient nursing experience preferred.
  • One year of experience working in an ambulatory surgical center or endoscopy laboratory preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Knows/conforms to the Texas Nursing Practice Act and the Board's rules and regulations as well as all Federal, State or local laws, rules or regulations.
  • Provide, without discrimination, nursing services regardless of age, disability, economic status, gender, national origin, and race, religion, or health problems of the patient’s service.
  • Responsible for the total nursing care, assessment, planning implementation, and evaluation of each assigned patient.
  • Plans, provides, evaluates, and documents nursing care, discharge planning and teaching.
  • Assures the plan is carried out and provided in a safe environment, through performance and supervision of subordinate personnel.
  • Educates patients, family, or others to attain optimal health and continuity of care.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills in decision making.
  • Properly documents ongoing assessment, plan or care and medication administration.
  • Documentation and administration of blood products.
  • Monitors and interprets clinical information and reports abnormal findings as appropriate.
  • Provide care to patients during the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of care.
  • Functions as charge nurse when required.
  • Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain composure during stressful situations.
  • Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
