4 West – Medical Surgical Unit: 36 bed medical-surgical unit including a 4 bed bariatric surgery recovery area. 4 West specializes in the care of post-operative patients from adolescence to adulthood in addition to caring for patients with variety of diagnoses and levels of care relating to all body systems including diabetes management, cellulitis, wound/ostomy care, and failure to thrive in the older adult. Requirements

  • Minimum Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
  • Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • CPR certification.

  • Certification in area of specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Assess human responses and plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for individuals or families.
  • Provide leadership in a professional practice setting.
  • Contribute to building the team by helping others succeed through role modeling and mentoring.
  • Assign or delegate tasks based on the needs of the patient and skill level of the RN, LPN or support staff.
  • Consider maintenance of a safe environment, patient condition, complexity of the intervention and predictability of the outcome.
  • Provide peers with both verbal and written feedback regarding clinical practice and role performance.
  • Share knowledge and skills with peers and colleagues.
  • Participate on interdisciplinary team to evaluate clinical care or health services.
  • Promote patient safety initiatives.
  • Participate in department specific quality initiatives.
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate and implement a patient plan of care.
  • Analyze the health status of individuals and families comparing the data with the norm.
  • Assess patient reports/records change of condition and notify physician and/or supervisor.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous lifelong learning for self and others.
  • Participate in systematic peer review and obtain informal feedback regarding one’s own practice.
  • Continuously evaluate and assess patient and family satisfaction.
  • Utilize effective time management skills to complete assigned duties and responsibilities.
