About The Position

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic is looking for an RN to join our nursing team in our Med/Surg Float Team! This position is full-time, working 12-hour night shifts from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, totaling 72 hours per biweekly pay period, with every other weekend required. The RN will provide total, comprehensive care to patients by applying the nursing process in an organized and systemic manner according to hospital policy. Responsibilities include proactive communication with the healthcare team regarding the plan of care, changes in patient condition, and discharge planning. The RN will complete admissions, document assessments and interventions, and interpret clinical data in the care plan. Additionally, the RN will perform thorough nursing assessments, reassess patient conditions, manage pain, adhere to infection control standards, and participate in discharge planning and multidisciplinary rounds.

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor Degree in Nursing highly preferred.
  • Current BCLS required or obtained by completion of orientation.
  • ACLS required or obtained by completion of orientation if applicable to area of practice.
  • Prior clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides total, comprehensive care to patients by applying the nursing process.
  • Communicates proactively to the health care team regarding the plan of care and changes in patient condition.
  • Completes admission assessments according to policy utilizing a multi-system approach.
  • Documents assessment/reassessment, plan, interventions, and outcomes according to policy.
  • Performs accurate and thorough nursing physical assessments.
  • Reassesses patient condition per policy.
  • Interprets and utilizes clinical data in the plan of care.
  • Assesses patients for potential risk factors and individualizes care.
  • Includes pain management and supportive care issues in the plan of care.
  • Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care.
  • Assumes accountability for managing the delivery of patient care.
  • Participates in discharge planning using a multi-disciplinary approach.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Assists patients/families with the grieving process and end-of-life cases as appropriate.
  • Initiates IV therapy as per policy/procedure.
  • Provides respiratory support including pulse oximetry, suctioning, and oxygen therapy.
