About The Position

The Behavioral Health RN House Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of nursing operations at Agave Ridge Behavioral Health, a 100 bed acute care psychiatric facility. This role ensures adequate staffing to provide care and oversees the delivery of behavioral health and nursing services with a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude. The supervisor collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams and administration to meet the physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental, and cultural needs of residents. The position emphasizes patient safety and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • BSN from an accredited school of nursing preferred.
  • Current registered nursing license in the state of the facility required.
  • Greater than 1 year of experience as an RN strongly preferred.
  • 1 year of experience as an RN in any setting required.
  • 1 year in psychiatric/recovery programs preferred.
  • Some experience as a charge RN or in a leadership position strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Current certification or license to teach within the state where the facility is located.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire).
  • First aid certification may be required based on state or facility.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipate and effectively manage changes in census and acuity, allocating nursing resources based on patient care needs.
  • Role model expectations related to customer service and demonstrate urgency regarding patient safety.
  • Enforce and interpret policies for patient and resident care delivery.
  • Ensure proper staffing for each unit, maintaining appropriate staff ratios and covering call-offs and vacation time.
  • Complete chart checks, maintain seclusion/restraint logs, and ensure nursing assessments and MARs are accurate and up to date.
  • Conduct rounds at the beginning of shifts and perform random audits.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing (DON) in staff orientation and competency evaluations, including coaching.
  • Provide mentoring and training as needed.
  • Ensure facility compliance with professional, regulatory, and governmental standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient care processes and outcomes to ensure competent, compassionate, and safe care.
  • Coordinate care rendered to patients, including physician orders and diagnostic information.
  • Document medical and behavioral health information and nursing care.
  • Administer medications and maintain records according to company policies.
  • Assist in developing and updating patient care plans with specific goals and interventions.
  • Prioritize tasks and delegate staff to ensure quality patient care.
  • Lead on shift for admissions and discharges, informing physicians of changes in patient conditions.
  • Utilize administrator-on-call for situations requiring additional attention.
  • Provide direct care as needed.
