About The Position

Women and Children’s Float Pool provides nursing and tech support to clinical areas within Women and Children’s Hospital. Our nurses focus on the medical needs and treatment of a broad range of ages from newborn to adults. A thorough orientation is provided on Mother/Baby, Pediatrics, PICU, Women’s surgery and RNICU. Each unit has yearly unit specific competencies that must be maintained by the Float Staff. Each unit provides individual education to meet the needs of their patient population.

Requirements

  • Graduate of state board school of nursing required
  • Current Alabama or Multi-state Nursing License required.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers must be obtained in the orientation period.
  • ACLS, PALS, or NRP is required for critical care areas based on patient population.
  • 2 years experience required
  • Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently.
  • Department specific competencies must be completed within the provisional period
