Caregivers in the Q5 Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) provide care to some of the most critically ill cardiovascular surgical patients in the country, such as patients receiving coronary artery bypass surgery, valve repair and replacements, aortic surgeries, and minimally invasive cardiac surgeries, as well as patients that have undergone new and innovative robotic cardiac surgeries. A caregiver in this position works days from 11:00AM – 11:30PM.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) must be presented upon hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within first year of employment
  • One year of current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting
  • Will consider licensed military RN experience

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established healthcare organization policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.
