About The Position

Requirements

• Three years of operating room experience.
• General knowledge of asepsis, healing, infectious disease processes, surgical anatomy and physiology, safety issues, and operative techniques.
• Graduate from an accredited Surgical Assistant program.
• Certification as a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA), Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA), or Surgical Assistant-Certified (SAC).
• Registered through DORA as a Colorado Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist License upon hire.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Surgical First Assistant during surgeries.
• Prepare patients for surgery and assist with positioning.
• Provide suturing, clamping, and removal of scar tissue as needed.
• Anticipate the surgeon's needs and hand instruments during procedures.
• Maintain and update preference cards for surgical procedures.
• Perform preoperative and postoperative care as directed by the surgeon.
• Participate in approximately 400-450 surgical cases per month.
• Be available for call shifts, including weekend and weekday on-call duties.
