Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Successful completion of an RNFA program that meets the Association of Perioperative RN (AORN) standards required.
• Credentialed by the CHS Medical Staff Office as an Allied Health Professional and privileged to perform RN First Assistant standardized procedures required.
• 1 year of relevant experience in area of specialty required.
• Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work within the state of California required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification required within 180 days of hire or transfer into position.
• Certified Operating Room Nurse from the Competency and Credentialing Institute (CCI) required.

Nice To Haves

• Certified RN First Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care in the surgical environment and works collaboratively with the surgeon and other team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Works under the direct supervision of the surgeon during the intraoperative phase.
• The RN First Assistant (RNFA) may not concurrently function as the Scrub Nurse while functioning as an RNFA.
