About The Position

Under general supervision and in collaboration with other members of the health care team, the RN uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, directing, providing, and evaluating nursing care for patients and coordinating nursing care activities with other health care disciplines.

Requirements

  • Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year current in-hospital or ER experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Registered Nurse License (Oregon).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support required at hire.
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire.
  • Computer keyboarding skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous health care experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field.
  • Telemetry experience.
  • Current NIHSS certification.
  • Recent experience with respiratory compromised patients, including long-term ventilation, tracheostomy, high flow nasal cannula, and BiPAP.
  • Recent attendance of Rhythm Recognition class or passing grade on Rhythm Recognition test.
  • Current manager recommendation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate multi-system assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, education needs, and discharge planning needs.
  • Identify deviations from normal on routine lab diagnostic tests and reassess patients throughout hospitalization.
  • Develop an individual nursing plan of care sensitive to the developmental needs of the patient.
  • Coordinate patient care activities and discharge planning with other hospital and clinic departments and community agencies.
  • Develop patient teaching plans and document on care plans or teaching plans.
  • Delegate patient care activities based on patients' condition and the scope of practice of other health care providers.
  • Establish priorities for patient care and classify acuity level of assigned patients.
  • Initiate appropriate measures based on protocol for the management of medical and/or surgical patients.
  • Carry out the physician's plan of care and accurately document in the EMR according to policy and procedure.
  • Utilize a multidisciplinary approach when appropriate and perform all necessary procedures correctly.
  • Calculate and administer medications accurately and initiate appropriate measures in emergency situations.
  • Evaluate assessment methods, plan of care, and patients' response to treatment, and participate in unit quality assurance activities.
