The RN Fellow is an experienced licensed RN new to specialty or a patient population. They are a key member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team who works interdependently with other healthcare team members as they gain the experience, exposure, and additional education necessary to a competent and independent nursing professional in a new specialty and/or with new patient population. The RN Fellow will uphold Kaiser Permanentes mission, vision, and values as they perform duties in accordance with evidence-based standards to address the acute, chronic, and preventative health needs of members and other patients of Kaiser Permanente. The RN Fellow will actively engage in learning activities, courses, professional seminars, and transition support activities to successfully meet Kaiser Permanentes National RN Fellowship Program learning objectives and requirements demonstrating their capability of fulfilling the major job accountabilities of a registered nurse.

  • Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies & Procedures, Principles of Responsibility, and applicable state, federal and local laws.
  • Functions within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act in the state(s) for which they are licensed and in accordance with the American Nurses Association Scope and Standards.
  • Utilizes the Nursing Process: Assessment, Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation.
  • Promotes Patient Centric Care: Patient Advocacy, Individualized Culturally Appropriate Care, Communication and Education.
  • Collaborates within Care Teams: Interdisciplinary Collaboration, Interdisciplinary Communication.
  • Technology Enabled Care/Informatics: Electronic Health Records (EHR) Management, Telehealth and Telemedicine Support, Technology Integration and Innovation.
  • Leadership and professionalism: Takes accountability for ones own actions and accepts constructive feedback, serves as a leader of the healthcare team.
  • More than 1 year of RN experience in any practice setting.
  • Associates degree.
  • Registered Nurse License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire AND Registered Nurse License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire OR Compact License: Registered Nurse within 6 months of hire.
  • Registered Nurse License (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
  • Successful completion of the selection process (i.e. pre-interview shadow experience).
  • Current Kaiser Permanente RN preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in nursing or related field.
  • Must have BLS certification and obtain PALS, ACLS and ENPC certifications.
