About The Position

The RN - Family Medicine position is located at the Southpointe Clinic in South Fargo, which provides primary care to a variety of patients. The department fosters a fast, up-beat, and fun environment with a strong emphasis on teamwork. This role primarily involves phone nursing and assisting with patient care on the floor as needed, specifically working with providers who care for diverse age groups, including women, children, and OB patients. The core function is to answer patient inquiries over the telephone, assessing the severity of symptoms and medical needs using triage algorithms.

Requirements

  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
  • Nurses performing nursing practice over the telephone require licensure in the states where the patients being served reside
  • Within first 30 days of employment, all requirements to obtain license needed for role is completed
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred
  • One year of healthcare experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Answers patient inquiries over the telephone, assessing the severity of the patient's symptoms and medical needs according to triage algorithms
  • Guides the patient to the appropriate level of care
  • Schedules patient appointments over the phone with appropriate healthcare providers/facilities/physicians
  • Documents information provided to patients during triage in health record systems
  • Records patients health conditions for follow-up patient care
  • Maintains and develops triage protocols
  • Ensures patients' healthcare information is updated on time
  • Answers inquiries through multiple variations of technology, depending on department
  • Educate patients based on calls that come in
  • Helping on the floor with patient care as needed
