About The Position

Magruder Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Room (ER) on a PRN basis. The RN will be responsible for coordinating and providing safe and effective nursing care to all patients utilizing the nursing process. This role involves the direction and supervision of assigned personnel in the delivery of patient care, as well as educating patients and the public about health concerns and providing emotional support to patients and their family members. The RN will collect patient health data, determine the priority of data collection based on the patient's immediate condition or needs, and ensure that the data collection process is systematic and ongoing. The RN will document relevant data in the medical record according to hospital standards and will analyze assessment data to determine the patient's health problems, identifying expected outcomes individualized to the patient. The RN will plan patient care to attain expected outcomes, indicating knowledge of physiology, pathology, and psychology relevant to the patient's health problems. The role requires the RN to implement the plan of care, establish interventions consistent with the plan, and carry out nursing care in a safe and appropriate manner. The RN will evaluate care by assessing and reporting changes in the patient's condition, revising the plan of care according to the patient's changing needs, and documenting the revisions. The RN will also demonstrate knowledge of the use of equipment used on the nursing unit and will help patients and families understand their illness or treatment, plan for care following discharge, and translate nursing decisions and physician's orders into action promptly. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the RN will maintain a constructive relationship with co-workers, demonstrate effective delegation skills, and contribute to the professional development of peers. The RN will also participate as a team member of the Code Blue Team, regulate the flow of clients in the Emergency Department, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements. Attendance is an essential function of this position, and the RN is expected to report to work on time and as scheduled.
