This is a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) opportunity in the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma Center in Roanoke, Virginia. The role primarily involves day/evening shifts with no weekends or call requirements. The successful candidate will join a dynamic invasive cardiovascular team, contributing expertise to patient care. A sign-on bonus of up to $30,000 and relocation allowance are available. Specialized training to obtain RCES certification and professional advancement through a clinical ladder are also offered. The CVT I- RN assists physicians with direct patient care during catheterization, interventional, and device implant procedures, performing duties in scrub, circulator, and monitor positions. The role focuses on delivering quality service through a team-oriented approach for adult and geriatric patients, providing direct assistance to physicians and patients to achieve optimal outcomes. Responsibilities include preparing patients and advanced equipment, scrubbing and assisting physicians, advising on procedural strategies and supplies, assisting in emergent conditions, and ensuring patient, physician, and team needs are met. The RN acts as a patient advocate, advises on sedation and pain medication, obtains and sets up supplies, operates digital x-ray equipment, and administers medications under physician supervision. The position requires advanced critical thinking for emergencies, monitoring and interpreting EKG and hemodynamics, and data input for patient history, labs, and case proceedings. The RN will also perform basic data manipulation, participate in specific patient care functions like transport and sheath removal, provide informed consent and patient education, and contribute to performance improvement activities. Procedural sedation for patients over 12 years of age is also a key responsibility, requiring appropriate credentials. The role involves interaction with various hospital staff and departments, maintaining confidentiality, and demonstrating knowledge of life span growth and development. The work environment may involve exposure to radiation, infectious diseases, biohazards, and hazardous materials. Physical demands include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, walking, prolonged standing, wearing a 15-lb lead apron, and maintaining continual insertion site pressure for a minimum of 30 minutes. Flexibility in the work schedule is required, and the job can be stressful and fast-paced.
