About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) Endoscopy position at SCA Health involves providing high-quality nursing care in a dynamic endoscopy environment. The role focuses on developing individualized perioperative patient care plans, ensuring patient safety, and advocating for patients throughout their care journey. The RN will be responsible for administering medications, monitoring patient recovery, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current state nursing licensure in good standing.
  • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification if applicable within 90 days of employment.
  • One year of GI, OR, and/or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty certification in GI Nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop individualized perioperative patient care plans.
  • Protect patients from injury caused by various sources.
  • Demonstrate safe operation of equipment and report unsafe situations.
  • Handle specimens according to facility policy.
  • Adhere to standard precautions and use personal protective equipment.
  • Comply with Universal Protocol and facility site validation policies.
  • Communicate the patient's current status to relevant parties.
  • Administer medications safely and correctly using the 8 rights of medication administration.
  • Monitor and practice aseptic technique during procedures.
  • Manage patient recovery from anesthesia and assess patient status.
  • Provide nursing care and monitoring in accordance with policies.
  • Perform interventions to maintain patient tissue perfusion and other system balances.
  • Ensure scopes and instruments are prepared and maintained properly.
  • Educate patients and support persons about care and procedures.
  • Evaluate patient progress and transfer care as applicable.
  • Document care accurately and participate in quality improvement projects.
  • Act as a patient advocate and maintain confidentiality.
  • Participate in team meetings and demonstrate fiscal responsibility.
