About The Position
A large acute-care hospital in the Salem, Virginia area is seeking experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses (RNs) to join a fast-paced emergency department. The facility is a full-service medical center offering advanced cardiovascular care, orthopedic and spine services, behavioral health, and oncology programs. The Emergency Room RN provides high-quality nursing care to patients presenting with a wide range of medical conditions, from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies. This role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a high-acuity environment.
Requirements
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
- Active Virginia RN license or compact RN license eligible to practice in Virginia
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Room RN experience in an acute care setting preferred
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or current BSN enrollment preferred
- Medical-Surgical RNs will be considered for cross-training ( Night Shift only )
Responsibilities
- Triage, assess, and treat emergency patients of all ages
- Manage multiple patient cases simultaneously and prioritize based on acuity
- Maintain professionalism and composure in high-pressure situations
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Complete accurate, timely clinical documentation
- Maintain patient safety, quality standards, and regulatory compliance
