About The Position

Oversee daily operations of a busy Emergency Room unit (Main or Free-Standing ED) Act as point of contact for staffing, unit planning, and resource management Assist with recruitment, orientation, and performance evaluations of staff Ensure compliance with licensure, training, competencies, and in-service requirements Coordinate with other departments to ensure safe, timely, and effective patient care Maintain high-quality patient experiences and clinical outcomes Step in for the Director of the ED in their absence

Requirements

  • Current RN license (Virginia or Compact)
  • BLS from AHA (required)
  • TNCC, ACLS, and PALS (must be obtained within 1 year of start)
  • Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing (required); BSN preferred or in progress
  • Must have ER management experience
  • Prior charge nurse experience and progressive leadership responsibilities preferred
  • Experience Credit Calculation: 1 year of charge nurse = 1 year of experience 3 years of staff RN = 1 year of credit 1 year of ED Manager = 1 year of credit

  • BSN preferred or in progress
  • Prior charge nurse experience and progressive leadership responsibilities preferred

Responsibilities
