About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) PRN at Palo Pinto General Hospital plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care on an as-needed basis, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to fluctuating patient volumes. Works in a fast-paced environment in urgent situations. This position requires the nurse to provide comprehensive nursing assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. The RN PRN is responsible for monitoring patient progress, administering medications and treatments safely, and educating patients and their families about health management and recovery processes. This role demands adaptability, clinical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining the hospital’s standards of excellence in healthcare delivery. Ultimately, the RN PRN contributes to the hospital’s mission by providing compassionate, evidence-based care that supports patient well-being and recovery in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing).
  • Advanced certifications such as ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).Demonstrated clinical experience in a hospital or acute care setting.
  • Ability to work flexible hours on an as-needed (PRN) basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Experience working in a general hospital environment or similar healthcare facility.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient and team interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and document findings accurately in medical records.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and procedures in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and update individualized care plans.
  • Monitor patient conditions continuously, recognizing and responding promptly to changes in health status.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care instructions.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
