The RN-Emergency Department provides direct nursing care in settings where patients require complex assessments and intervention, in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. This role involves collecting comprehensive data pertinent to the health care consumer’s health and/or situation, and triaging each health care consumer utilizing age, developmentally appropriate, and culturally sensitive practices to prioritize and optimize health care consumer flow, expediting those who require immediate care. The RN analyzes assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues, identifies expected outcomes for individualized care plans, and implements, coordinates, and educates to promote health and a safe practice environment. They also evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes, communicate effectively in various formats, demonstrate leadership in the professional practice setting, and attain knowledge and competence reflecting current nursing practice. The position requires applying evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge to Emergency Nursing, ensuring care is delivered based on patient’s age-specific and clinical needs as described in the department's Scope of Service, and working in a constant state of alertness and safety.
