About The Position

RN - Emergency Department - Full Time, Days Relief Charge Nurse Weekly Hours: 36 Shift: 1st Status: Full Time Job Summary: Registered nurse implements the nursing process for each patient regardless of age (i.e. infancy to geriatric) assigned to his/her care and is responsible for the patient’s care within the parameters of the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act. The registered nurse promotes positive patient outcomes; quality of care and initiates change through active involvement in unit-based and hospital shared- governance councils. National Professional Nursing Standards serve as guidelines for the registered nurse as he/she utilizes critical thinking skills and exercises appropriate nursing judgment. The registered nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes. Also, the registered nurse will serve as a role model by actively participating in the process of continuous professional development, teaching and learning across the healthcare continuum.

Requirements

  • Active Kentucky License
  • BCLS Required
  • ACLS Required
  • PALS Required
  • NIHSS Required
  • BSN or Nursing Certification required except as noted: Individuals hired as a Staff RN prior to October 1, 2013 are grandfathered and exempt from obtaining a BSN or Certification. Associate degreed New Graduate Nurses must obtain a BSN by agreeing to enroll in a program within 1 year of hire/transfer and complete the degree within 5 years of hire/transfer. RN’s with less than 5 years of experience as a nurse must enroll in a BSN program within 1 year of hire and complete the degree within 5 years of hire. RN’s with 5 years of experience or greater as a nurse must complete one of the following: (a) Obtain a BSN by agreeing to enroll in a program within 1 year of hire and complete the degree within 5 years of hire or (b) Obtain a Nursing Certification within one year of hire or as soon as eligible to sit for the certification.
